An «Improvement of Oversight over Antiepidemic Activities, Implemented to Counteract HIV Spread» coordination meeting took place on December 5th - 8th, 2011 in Suzdal. The organizer was the Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare (Rospotrebnadzor). The event was opened by the Head of this service, Chief State Sanitary Doctor of the Russian Federation, Academician, Gennadiy Grigorevich Onischenko. The attendees were representatives of such organizations as Federal Center for AIDS Prevention and Control, the World Health Organization, Central Scientific Research Institute of Epidemiology of Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare, UNAIDS-Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS, UNFPA-United Nations Population Fund, which are addressing HIV issues. 
The chairlady of Irkutsk Oblast branch of the Russian Red Cross, M.V. Akulova, shared experience on prevention targeting at injecting drug users in the city with a high level of HIV in the breakup group: «New Actuals of HIV and Drug Abuse. Peculiarities of HIV Epidemic Spread among Injecting Drug Users».
