The event to support the International Smoking free Day took place in Irkutsk in the pharmacy № 1. Volunteers met clients and passer byes at the pharmacy entry and offered to change a cigarette to a candy or to a cookie.
They also distributed booklets about smoking harm and the most frequent smokers deseases. In the pharmacy the clients were offered to measure their lungs living volume by the help of the device “Pickflometer”. Beside this, to show smoking consequences the representatives of medical center “MANO” demonstrated passive smoker lungs, who smoked during 10 years and no-smoker lungs. Dikul Center offered to know the biological age, to compare it with the real one with the help of the device produced by Russian producers.
As Alexander Ponomarev, the chief’s deputy of Health Department and social aid for population of Irkutsk government announced the event was directed to prevent first of all the smoking between children, teenagers and working population, to people who want to give up the smoking and who can adhere to it”. He underlined also that this event was not the unique but there are others in the framework of the event “Out of dependency. Explore no-smoking world”.
As A.Ponomarev noticed the result of such events in practice must be well developed systematical approach to counteract the smoking development and the alcohol adherence. The event was organized with the help of Health and social aid Department of Irkutsk, Irkutsk Oblast Branch of Russian Red Cross and Irkutsk region Department of Russian consumer control. The support also was lended by next organizations: medical-psychological center “Ritm”, “Clinic for whole family”, Molecular diagnostics Center, the company “Pfizer”, medical diagnostics center “MANO”, Dikul Center.
