For each Russian citizen, May is forever connected with the Great Victory over fascism. It is symbolic for the Russian Red Cross, which history is closely intertwined with the history of our country, that there are  two significant dates in May, they are May 8 - The International Red Cross Day and  May 15- Birthday of the Russian Red Cross, which celebrated the 145th anniversary this year.  

It's a good occasion to say "thank you!"  to people who participated in World War II, veterans, workers and all those whose lives are connected with serving  the ideas of humanism, for their heroic feat of arms and  their great contribution to peace! Irkutsk Regional Branch of the Russian Red Cross in its anniversary year, traditionally congratulated veterans in word and deed by conducting "Clean Windows" Humanitarian event.  

Volunteers of Irkutsk branch of the Russian Red Cross visited the veterans and helped in cleaning the flats and the Regional Council of Veterans within the scope of the event. Volunteers brought gifts – greeting postcards and "candy bouquets" from Irkutsk branch of the Red Cross. 

The veterans appreciated the work done by volunteers, besides, for some of them, the value of the event was not just that the windows were cleaned, but that there was an opportunity for talking to young adults and sharing stories about their lives and the war.
