This edition is devoted to studies conducted on violation of mechanisms of forming mother’s behavior which can be connected to the situation in the woman’s family. The results of clinical observations showed that the reason for deviant motherhood is rooted in the relationship of the woman and her mother. According to the analysis of social history of women who abandon their children, these women had been rejected by their own mothers in their childhood. This maternal deprivation made the process of identification with mother impossible, both on the level of psychological gender and forming the mother’s role. The leading need of a woman with deviant maternal behavior is to receive love and appreciation from one’s own mother. This need then leads to emotional dependence from mother and in many cases posses a barrier to the woman’s personal development, not letting her become mother in the future. The conclusion states that in order to form normal maternal behavior it is necessary to identify oneself with mother and then on the basis of it - emotional separation
