Every third Sunday of May around the world, the people who suffered and died from the AIDS epidemic, are remembered.
The purpose of this event is to attract world attention to the problems of the people, affected by HIV/AIDS epidemic. Another one is to attract attention of the authorities to equip clinics and to render assistance to the people who suffered from this disease.
In pandemic conditions it is important to inform as many people as possible about means of HIV prevention and modes of its transmission.
This day, there is a reason to remind everyone living on earth, that people living with HIV - are ordinary people, such as all, they also live, love, grieve ... and that anyone of us could be HIV-infected. This disease does not choose.
There is already the First International Memorial, erected in 1983 in memory of the dead from AIDS. That is “International AIDS Candlelight Memorial”.
